One of the hot topics at the Expo is the current state of drone use in film production. At this time, to use devices for a commercial operation the user must have a certified aircraft, licensed pilot and FAA approval. However, the FAA may be easing restrictions in talks of a regulatory exemption to accommodate seven aerial production companies who have requested use of drones for film productions. This will be interesting to watch to see how widely adopted the technology will be and what creative avenues filmmakers will take with a entirely new point of view.
